Royal Wolferton near Sandringham: Lanterns.

The old lanterns were grit blasted clean, sadly the lanterns where in a poor state. The metalwork was badly corroded and in need of major repair.

Strangely enough the Crowns were in reasonable condition and required only a minor amount of work.

The lanterns on the floor and the lantern on the work bench are exactly the same, however the lanterns we made should last a little longer. The frame is all copper and should not corrode and let water pour in the top of the crown. Photo top right show the corrosion.
This lantern was not working at all and the electrics had decreased to such an extent it was short of dangerous.
As seen on the left and below the finished lantern looks fine, and the client well pleased.

This wonderful vista over the roof tops.

Post Top Lantern lighting the entrance to the Royal Waiting rooms, lantern with inner frog legs. This Grand Entrance to the Royal Waiting Rooms. Many thanks & courtesy to Mrs Mary Brown for Permission to use the photographs 2006
